Study of Evaluation of Genetic Variability of Gladiolus Cultivars under Agro-climatic Conditions of Prayagraj, India

A field experiment was carried out to “Study of Evaluating Genetic Variability Gladiolus (Gladilous grandiflorus L.) Cultivars Under Agro –Climatic conditions Prayagraj” conducted at the Departmental research Horticulture, Naini, Agriculture Institute during Rabi season 2022-2023. The involved 15 cultivars arranged in randomized block design with three replication. analysis data showed that phenotypic coefficient variation (PCV) higher than genotypic (GCV) for all characters studied, indicating environmental factors had a significant influence on these characters. Several traits, including number leaves 30DAS, corm yield per plant, cormels hectare, cormel diameter, corms and exhibited high PCV GCV. Furthermore, study found heritability coupled genetic advance as percentage mean traits such plant. This suggests are under strong control have potential effective selection improvement. Moreover, positive highly correlations were observed between plant (in grams) various other 60DAS, 90DAS, shoots days first flowering, rachis length, florets spike, spikes floret weight corm, hectare. These indicate yield. Based study's results, genotypes Yellow stone, followed by Joshka, Pusa suhagan, Arka Naveen, identified spike corm-yielding agro-climatic Prayagraj.Overall, highlights impact provides valuable insights into gladiolus desirable characteristics cultivation Prayagraj region.
